Diametric's 25th Anniversary
Diametric is a success story that
quite literally began around a kitchen table 25 years ago. In 1981 our founding Director, Geoff Cull, established the core business philosophy of a company that developed by recruiting knowledgeable and motivated people who ensured growth through excellent customer service. Fifteen years later in 1996 Geoff structured an MBO that allowed two existing Directors, Brian Calvert and Howard Tombs, to continue the same “customer focused” philosophy, resulting in expansion into new premises at Durley, near Bishops Waltham in 2001. It was from these premises that we began our trip to Lingfield Race course for our 25th Anniversary Celebrations.
The sun was shining on a beautiful Thursday morning as we bundled in to the hired Minibus like kids on a school outing. Soon we were off along the motorway, almost making 60 mph!! We were lucky enough to have Geoff Cull's wife with us; Ann had made the journey to our office to join in our celebrations.
This was everybody’s first encounter ‘at the races’ and we were all wide eyed at the course and surrounding buildings. After being shown to our corporate area, we admired the view of the course from the balcony with a cold drink. Making our choices for the first race, we headed downstairs to the bookmakers to try our luck with a few pounds.
A good start for a few of us in the first race inspired the competitiveness in us all for the following races.
In between races, we had lunch in the corporate area and lots of cold drinks as it seemed that the summer had certainly arrived. Throughout the day there were wins and, quite often, losses too, but by the last race everyone had just about broken even and had certainly and more importantly enjoyed the day.
