Electroformed

Microsoft Badge

Our solutions

Electroformed badges and nameplates are an advanced branding product that is exclusive to Diametric in the UK. The benefit of producing electroformed nameplates is that the process enables high-quality repeated duplication of the master at a low cost. This is one of our ‘flagship’ products that is ideal for premium brands where a need for superior accuracy is essential to reproduce logos in fine detail. Our electroformed nameplates are also a fantastic branding solution when space is at a premium and suit products that demand a small badge, but with high-definition 3D presentations.

Here are a number of features of our electroformed nameplates:

  • We can produce a number of different finishes, including chromium, gold plated, diamond cut and holographic effects.
  • Nameplates can include satin, matt or polished detail.
  • Colour matching can be achieved to the majority of recognised colour systems or sample swatches.
  • We can mount the nameplates using a range of high specification adhesives that can be tailored to the specific environment and application of your product.
  • Electroformed nameplates are suitable for both internal and external environments.

Process

We use a nickel based metal that is deposited onto a master tool to produce an extremely accurate reproduction of fine details and textures. Electroforming is a highly specialised process of metal part fabrication. Basically, a metal skin is built up on an electro-conductive surface, e.g. stainless steel, glass etc, and once it is at its desired thickness the electroformed part is stripped off. The resulting form is then coated in chrome or gold. To produce superior detailing and quality finish, a variety of techniques are used to add durable paint finishes.

We Multitone Badgecan also produce electroformed nameplates using a related process called ‘New Style’. This is a low-cost alternative and is achieved by selectively electroforming nickel text and logo detail onto a matt anodised aluminium base. To get a pleasing contrast of matt and gloss finishes, the nickel is finally coated in chrome or gold.
